What to do in ROCHESTER NY

We are going to Buffalo Bills Training camp for the day and are looking for other things to do in the area. Good food, beaches, shopping, site seeing any ideas? We will be around st john fisher but willing to go north to the Lake or anywhere else Thanks!

On a nice day, Ontario Beach Park is active (it is where the fast ferry docks) and you can walk out the pier before having a frozen custard cone at Abbots. There is an old carousel there for kids that is quaint.

Dinosaur Barbeque has good ribs downtown, although the Sticky Lips place on Culver Road is pretty good as well. Beale Street on South Ave has ribs and excellent corn bread.

Park Ave has some nice outdoor restaurants and coffeshops and is nice for strolling; right around the block is East Avenue and the George Eastman house if you're interested in photography. Highland Park is quite pretty and has some nice walking paths and a very pretty arboretum not far from the reservoir.

The canal path in Pittsford is a good outdoor spot for walking, biking, feeding the ducks. Aladdin's has good mediterranean food (although Sinbad's on Park Ave is better in my opinion) and a deck that overlooks the canal. The Coal Tower has great breakfast and the Simply Crepes place has yummy crepes and breakfast fare. All of this can be found at Schoen Place. The town of Pittsford itself is small but pretty with some antique shops and other stores.

The Metal Gallery on Blossom Road (near Winton) is kind of cool-- a working artists' studio and burgeouning space for new/local artists.

Frontier field is fun to check out. I think the Redwings are playing and the Rhinos-- our soccer team. That's near Brown's Race where there are some good restaurants (I've heard-- I've never had the chance to try them) and at ten most nights they have fireworks and a laser light show-- there's a small bridge over the gorge near the distillery that overlooks a waterfall; some history; some shops...

Hope that helps...

this might be out of the way, but letchworth state park is beautiful...especially the central falls area near glen iris inn. Worth the travel if you have the time and inclination.

Hi
Thanks for the ideas, we ending up going to Browns race and checking out the water falls, going to Buffalo Bills Training camp. Then we went to the Dinosaur BBQ. Everything was great. At the Camp there was a booth for the BBQ and they were giving out free samples it was great.
Thanks again
