The best veggie place in NY is VP2 --http://www.vegetariansparadise2.com. It's right in the Village, which you two will probably enjoy more than most other NY activities.

I am 20 year old and often visit the city. Some of my favorites have become: Union Square offers some great restaurants and people watching. Located there are Park Avalon and Blue Water Grill which are great for dinner, a lunch or brunch is great at Coffee Shop and Blue Water Grill. From there, you can head down to soho or even scope around union square for a while, there is a Diesel and Tower Records right there and plenty of other widow watching. Also, while you're around there, check out the W hotel. Lot 61 and Nativa are good lounges to go to- a little more exciting than a bar, yet more relaxing than a club. You have to take her to Park Avenue and Times Square- they're classic and amazing sites to see.

Tell me something Michelle...why in the world would your sister want to visit NYC for a present or any other big bity for that matter. Can't she be more creative than that. How about a trip to Grand Teton National Park, or Jasper National Park, and so forth. These natural wonders are more spectacular than any man made creation.

James, who are you to tell her what she should want to do for her birthday? Just because you would rather go to a park, doesn't mean that she should. New York is a great city and a wonderful place to spend a 21st birthday. She didn't ask whether to go there. She asked what to do when she gets there, so stick to the topic.

I was reading through this thread and actually smiling that every posted response was NICE. And very helpful. I knew it was too good to be thru when I saw the post regarding why someone would want to go to the city instead of somewhere far away.
