What has been your best source for cheap rental car rates?
I know how to find the great rates and brokers for European rentals but don't know the same thing for the US. Are there any better options than Hotwire or Sidestep?

I just got a VERY good rate on a mid-size car from Alamo for ten days unlimited mileage in the Pacific Northwest that works out to less than $20/day INCLUDING all the taxes and surcharges and stuff that gets tacked on. I used a coupon with a special deal that I got when we renewed our COSTCO membership last month. So, my tip is to check out Costco, Sam's Club, or any of those membership joints to see if they've got something going. I never would have thought to do so on my own!

We thought we got a great deal from HOTWIRE for 2 full size cars,14day rental(8/10-8/24) in SLC with Avis for $16.95 a day, both Toyota Camry. Also used Hotwire for our upcoming trip to SAN,10/7-10/16, compact for $16 with Hertz. We also use Priceline.

I got a much better rate than priceline from whizzcarrental.net. It is based in UK, so we were slightly concerned till we arrived at our destination and found our car to be really there. We have used it a couple of times ever since. It does give you horrible rates at times, but sometimes it is really good. It is mostly Alamo and sometimes National car rentals and almost always you have to purachase a tank of fuel (you do not have the option to fill the tank up when you return).
