Car rental - Expedia??

We will be renting a car in Minneapolis over the Memorial day weekend. Expedia looks good but does anyone have any other recommendation??

We haven't rented a car in the states for a long time :-B

Have you tried Travelocity? They have good rates too. Are you Canadian? If so, try www.destina.ca
I've had good results with them.
BUT before you book, after you get the best rate, go to the car rental's own site and check the rates.
I've just booked a car in Florida. I got a good price on travelocity, and then when I went to the actual car rental site, I got an even better deal. Only a few dollars less, but still.....

If price is similar, book through the rental agency itself, not Expedia. If you run into a problem with the rental, it'll be easier to fix when booked directly. Prices are usually the same.

Also check into rates from off-airport sites, because you can get pretty big savings there. I know there's at least one rental place right along the light-rail line, and another in downtown Minneapolis (within 4-5 blocks of the light-rail), so it would be fairly easy (and cheap) to get to either of those from the airport.

I agree with all that TheWeasel posted.

But I have had some great luck with priceline car rentals recently, and not bidding but accepting one of the standard offerings.

I have had the best prices bidding on Priceline after checking prices on Orbitz and biddingfortravel. You can also check www.rentalcodes.com.

Here's a rental comparison site that someone on this board recommended: www.bnm.com

I usually have the best luck (and no problems) when renting through Hotwire, at www.hotwire.com
