Best Website for low car rentals

When looking for low airfares, I check Kayak, com or Fare advisor, but I am at a loss for finding a good website for obtaining competitive rates for car rentals. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Kayak does car rentals too. Priceline is competitive and you can do the name your own price too.

Right now, there aren't really good car-rental prices available generally. Avis is running a special, and I got a good rate on a Friday to Tuesday rental. But the best rates are still name-your-own prices on 1) Priceline and 2) Hotwire.

Priceline usually gives you the best deals. If your inital offer is rejected, then the site comes back with a price that's guaranteed acceptance, and it's usually very good.

The caveat is that the car rental is then unrefundable and unchangeable.

I use Hotwire.com quite often for car rentals. While its a blind site, they do guarantee that the car will come from one of the top 6 rental companies (Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz or National) with a desk located on airport property. I figure its not much of a risk. We've always ended up with Hertz or Avis and the prices are really, really, low. Never had a problem with a rental from this site.

Another tip to getting a better rate is to rent it from a location other than the airport. Most airports locations charge higher fees and as a result, the final cost to you is higher.

I have had luck with city specials by Dollar and also being able to rent in the city and then do a one way with a return to airport with no drop off fee with Dollar. I doubt this is in all locations, but worth a try. Cannot do one way with Priceline though.

Breezenet, at bnm.com, is a good site for comparisons.
