Fun idea! Maybe serve dinner on a tray or something made of (or resembling) redwood, as in the giant sequoias.

Broccoli trees?

But seriously, folks! I like the suggestion of trout--I'd grill them whole, stuffed with some parsley and lemon, and fancier herbs if you've got 'em. Lots of campers in Yosemite fish for trout. In the absence of trout, grilled burgers or sausages, maybe, to get at that camping feel without resorting to an MRE!

Be sure to let us all know how it went!

Thanks for all the awesome ideas. I did the dinner Friday night - starting with a very cheesy scavenger hunt where he got clues like fog, Bonds, backpacker, Sam, and bear. He had a pretty idea about San Francisco but didn't put the (Yosemite) Sam and bear together for Yosemite...can't say I blame him - it was pretty obscure.

Anyway, we had Napa Valley Chardonnay and Anchor Steam beer. Spicy chipotle shrimp dip, Tomato crab soup, sourdough, backpacker's fried trout, and Rice-a-Roni. My favorite part was the Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Truffle Parfaits though!

So - now all we have to do is wait for the trip! Oh - and dig out all of our backpacking gear from the garage
