What do you think of Saco?

Saco is a town in Maine. It does not have the charm of the Bath area but I'm sure the folks who live there like it just the same. Bath is close to Boothbay Harbor as well as Brunswick (a charming town also). I would also recommend stopping in Wiscasset and Damrascotta all nearby. Bailey's Island is also a nice destination in the Bath area. If your into maritime history Bath has a good maritime museum.
As far as Saco goes, there are some decent beaches in nearby Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth and depending on your itinerary, you could stop there if you are driving up Rt. 1. More specifics would be in order to give a better opinion.

Jacqui, I'm not familiar with Bath, but Saco is pretty much a strip of hotels, fast-food and attractions. It's not a bad area; I've stayed there a few times. It's convenient to the beach. It's simply devoid of any charm, so if you're looking for ambiance, don't expect any!
If you're feeding a hoard, try the lunch at the Schoolhouse Restaurant in Saco - surprisingly good food at amazing prices!
