I have seen Bath several times in one day - like danon says not a huge city and many sites are in a short enough walking loop except the Shambles - the unique Shambles a mile or so outside of town.

Can you help those of us who thought we knew Bath fairly well exactly how we can find the Shambles?

Our poor PQ is on the paint again . . .

Uk2011: Yes -- you can see quite a lot of Bath in one day. All of the normal tourist sites plus time to spare -- as long as you don't have any mobility issues.

I believe it is outside the city, several hundred miles to the Northeast, say somewhere near York ?

Shambles - was that not Beau Nash's - once the king of Bath's social scene - was not that the Sham Castle he built - mainly a facade - guess I stumbled and called it the Shambles - probably thinking of some main shopping street in York - anyway Sham Castle I guess or something like that.

Plus, last time I was in the Bath, I couldn't see Sham Castle from the Crescent ... This photo was taken on November 9, 2006 in Bathwick, Bath, England, GB. ...

I believe there is a free walking tour of the city given by a Bath resident @ 10:00 AM - check out the Bath website for details. It's supposed to be a good tour. I took a London Tours tour of Bath (including train trip from London) in one day that was really good a few months ago. If you have trouble with walking, there is also a bus tour, I think.

janis - please before you issue your pithy comments please read what I posted 28 minutes before - admitting I made an error and saying it was not Sham Castle. Please dear read what people post before correcting them!
