Do you just put it all in a bag and leave it by your towel and feel safe with it there? Or what tips do you have? Do you leave your windows rolled down in your car, as the maui revealed book suggests to prevent them from getting smashed in. all the way down or partly?

I keep the MR book in the car (don't want to stand out as a tourist
); have my keys, money, DL in a waterproof container that goes around my neck or in those waterproof fanny packs; and only take those disposable waterproof cameras. Best NEVER to leave precious items unattended and always on you!
Or find a nice family who also has a MR book on them and ask them if they would like to take turns snorkeling/guarding stuff. Worth a shot if you brought valuable stuff!

I agree, except for the camera, you can fit everything else into a waterproof container that you hang around your neck. I have one that is also large enough to hold my sunglasses. You can find these containers at most beach gift shops or diving shops.

REI has a number of choices for waterproof containers. I would only bring keys and wallet, though.

I will be coming back to Maui (5 yr anniversary) in early October. We have a convertible car as part of our package. Do most leave the top down always as far as security (assuming there is not a threat of rain)? Just wondering!

For what it's worth, I'm with Julie-Colorado on this one. I just leave my stuff stuck in one of my shoes, which is usually holding down one edge of my beach towel.
If any crook is man enough to reach into my smelly shoe, then I say, "Go for it."
