snowrooster, ignore lonesome . All it is doing is trying to get your goat.
cheriberry, there are many locations that are 'conservative wealthy'. I'm not getting what you are saying.
While I understand your problem with the criticism ( I cannot stand when someone criticizes Myrlte Beach for being what it is) I don't understand your rebuttal.
j_99 may not be about weathered beach 'cottages' and northeastern deciduous maritime forest. It may be the glitz of Miami or LA or the exotic caribbean. Either way it seems j_999 was trying to figure out what the big deal was with Nantucket. Not necessarily a bad thing.

j9 - I love Cape Cod and enjoyed Martha's Vineyard, and I believe Nantucket is similar, so I can tell you that the "feel" is one of the things that I love about Cape Cod. I know that doesn't tell you much, but as soon as get "on" Cape Cod, it's a different feel and I love it. There's no tacky boardwalks, quaint towns, no high rises lining the beaches, nice hikes and beautiful ocean scenery.
That said, I've been around here long enough to know that being critical about a place is not highly tolerated. I don't understand that, but that's the way it is. I love Cape Cod, live outside Phila, and if others here hate either place, that doesn't bother me. Not everybody likes the same things about anything, so why is it so upsetting to read we all disagree on what is worthwhile travel-wise?
And I don't know who lonesome is, nor do I closely follow who everyone is around here, but I would have to agree that people can be mean-spirited here. Lately it's been depressing to me, so I don't come by as much. I guess Katrina has had many negative impacts!

Oh my oh my, GoTravel you are so funny.
Even I did not refer to the old coot as a "GOAT" but it sure fits. Thank you for such an insightful appellation.
An Old Goat. That is so appropro! But I must say that I do not endorse such crude speach. Well I guess we all now know that snowrooster is a hag.
Love,
Lonesome
