Recent Trip to Cape Cod/Marthas Vineyard/Nantucket
My Husband and I just spent a week on Cape Cod and Marthas Vineyard so I thought I would give my feed back both positive and negative.
We stayed at The Captains House Inn in Chatham and had a wonderful experience. Great food, very comfortable rooms, and excellent hospitality. We also spent 3 days on Marthas Vineyard but we were disappointed with our experience at Marthas Place in VineyardHaven. The house is a beautifully restored home on the Main Street with lovely harbor views. The positives stop there and the negatives begin with the rule book presented to use upon our arrival, the strict one hour window for breakfast service and no flexiblity in terms of breakfast service for an early check out. Check out is at 10 am immediately after breakfact. Overall very little by way of hospitality.
The restaurants we enjoyed include: The Impudent Oyster (Chatham), Vinings (Chatham), The Roadhouse(Hyannis), Moxie Cafe (Vineyard Haven, MV), Black Dog Cafe(Vineyard Haven, MV)
The restuarants we didn't enjoy include: The Wayside Inn Restaurant (average), Christians (average food and noisy dining area) although the bartender at Christians was a lot of fun.
I hope someone finds this feedback helpful.

Thanks for the info. We just booked a week at the Colonial House Inn in Yarmouth Port. It was between that and the Captains House. I hope we didn't make a mistake. It is our first time to the cape and we chose strictly from the web and Frommers/Fodors. Thanks for the restaurant info.

Just an addendum to my original message. We took the ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket and spent the day there. It is lovely place and if I could do it again I would have stayed in Nantucket instead of Marthas Vineyard. While in Nantucket we went sailing on The Endeavor in Nantucket Sound and strolled the cobblestone streets of Nantucket Town. The rest of the island looks like it is nice as well and can be seen by rollerblade/bikes/mopeds/bus tour etc.
Nantucket...definitely not boring!

Kris I've been going to MV for years but this is the yr I would like to go visit Nantucket for a day. Was the ferry ride over that bad. Or should I spend the money and fly. How did you get around Nantucket or did you just stay in town. Did you take a tour of the island? If so elaborate. Thanks.
