Whaler's Cove. Which building, floor, unit?
What are the differences in the units at Whaler's Cove? I know one building has better straight away views of the water, but which floors are better? Are the units the same configuration from floor to floor?
Thanks for any info!

I am glad you asked that question. I am staying there for Thanksgiving and can't seem to get an answer. I called them up and they would not commit to me. I was told Bldg 1 but they said if I asked for a specific bldg it was more expensive than whatever they assign. I think there are only two floors because there is a law in Kauai that no bldg can be taller than a coconut tree.

I am pretty sure Whaler's Cove is 4 stories high (coconut trees can be tall.) Each of those units is individually owned, so the furnishings will differ. I think that they are all the same size about 1800 sq feet which is big for a 2 bdrm condo.

I am considering booking with Garden Island Rentals which represents owners. I can get unit 131 (third floor) or 113(ground floor) for 285.00 a night or 1800.00 a week. They have two units. These prices seem pretty good for this property. Let me know how your experience with Suite Paradise was as they are also an option. Thanks!

I did get some information. Basically, the units are very close in size and the only difference in many cases is the interiors. Ok, Bldg 1 has unobstructed views where as Blgd 2 has the pool in front of it.

I'm sorry I didn't see your last post. The price seems real good. As I mentioned I'm going the week of Thanksgiving and am paying $313 per night. I did get a very good price for a convertible from them for $295 per week, which is reasonable in hawaii....

Building 1 has the unobstructed views of the ocean. Building two has great views too but the pool is in front of it and building one is just forward so as to block some of the view. Though there are 4 stories there are only 3 levels of rooms. The fouth floor is really the upstairs of the third floor condos. Third floor condos did not have lanais as big as the second floor units. We stayed in 123. The 1 represents building one, the 2 means the second floor and the 3 is the actual condo placement which puts this one right in the middle of the building. Here's a floor plan of what unit we had though this is first floor unit http://www.mauikauai.com/wc_rates.htm
There are a few different floor plans. Here's a view of the floor plans and their locations. http://tours.360house.com/Viewer_pr....30&RID=1130472
We booked through Suite Paradise.
Here's a link to pictures, though the site is for real estate sales I love the pics here. http://www.kauai1.com/Whalers_Cove_C...oipu_Kauai.htm

Hi everyone,
Just got back from a week at Whaler's Cove and it's unbelievable !
Yes,Bldg 1 is the Bldg to stay in and if you get one of the first two units on the east side of the bldg you get EAST/WEST views. That's correct sunrise and sundown..There are three floors(it like to me that floor 3 could be 2 story because the 4th floor didn't have any patios), I suggest either two or three. One has a great view but I prefer to be up a little. The units are very large and clean. It was a great week.
By the way, if you are looking for something to do they started this tubing adventure down the ditches from the plantations....it's a hoot.Great time!
I went through Suite Paradise and they were extremely nice to work with.

Alan, Glad to hear you had a great time. We also loved our stay there. It is true that the third floor units have a second story. There is no fourth story individual units. Hey are you doing a trip report?

Suzie,
I never went up to the 3rd floor to look BUT from the outside they looked 2 floors. The 3rd floor has the patio and there is a floor above it so I'm taking for granted that's part of the 3rd floor condo.
I'm not doing a report but for the first time in a long time the island seemed very quiet, not alot of tourists. I really didn't need reservations for any restaurants except on Thanksgiving day.
