Whaler's Cove - Kauai

Has anyone stayed at or familiar with this resort? Any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have not stayed there, but have visited it and am currently researching a trip there for sometime in 2005. Here is what I know so far. The place is gorgeous, upscale and first class. Small (39 units)and very private. The units are all 2 bedroom, but can be rented as one bedroom units too. It is in a very quiet residential area in Poipu a short walk to Poipu beach and baby beach (a small, calm swimming cove). It is not beachfront. There is snorkeling off shore. Premier Resorts is the main outfit that handles the units, but Suite Paradise and Grantham Properties also handle it. S.P. and Grantham are cheaper. Units in building one have a better straight on view of the ocean, but all units are "ocean front". Units on floor one and two have larger lanais than on the third floor. Units on third floor are actually two story with the bedrooms upstairs. No A-C . Nice Pool. There are a few postings here that reference this place too. Have fun!

Where's Suuuz, our resident Whaler's Cove afficianado? ><

Try doing a "text search" using whalers cove and you'll get a bunch of good info.
Looked like a nice place when we drove by last trip over.

Cueball, have you heard about particular units that are more favorable to stay in? Thanks for your info. It was very helpful.

Suzie, I know you were on the 2nd floor in Bldg. 1, but which unit were you in? Do the units that end in a higher (which I think are closer to the pool) have a better few than the ones that end in 1 or 2?

SueDoc: In my browsing around I found a posting on tripadvisor that raved about 130. The 1 stands for the building number. The 3 stands for the floor and the 0 stands for the unit number. 130 is an end unit. On www.kauairentals.com they show units 113 and 131. The units to try to get would be in building one as they don't have anything in front of them except the lawn and then the glorious Pacific. If you use Suite Paradise and want their discounted rate, you cannot PICK a specific unit, but REQUEST say a unit in building one. They also have units in building two. Building two is built with the pool area in front of it, so your view is not as nice, but it is still better than most places that claim an ocean view. Go to Premier Resorts site and go to Whaler's Cove and then go to the virtual tour. This will give you an idea of how nice these places are. Let me know how you do.

Hi SueDoc! We stayed at Whalers Cove for a very special anniversary. We stayed in building 1 second floor middle unit. One word: Awesome. Nothing between us and the ocean, beautiful view! Huge Huge huge lanai. Big enough for a round table for 4, two lounge chairs and plenty of walking around space. Our unit was 123. The 1 is for the building, the 2 is for the floor and the 3 is the actual unit number. That might help you determine the location of other units you hear about.

Inside is very nice. OUr master bedroom had a sliding door to the lanai. The bathroom is not right in the room which was nice when one of us wanted to sleep. Though it is private from the rest of the unit. Has a washer and dryer as well as anything else you'd want. Small basket of goodies upon our arrival was on the kitchen counter.

Pool is very nice. It has no actual rim so it just looks like it's part of the flagstone decking. Jacuzzi is large too. There are grills around the corner from the pool. We went at the end of Sept and there was no one around. We had the pool to ourselves.

There is also staris down to the ocean so you can go snorkeling right there. No beach as it is located on a rocky area. Pool is right on the ocean.

The prices of the two bedroom places begin with double occupancy and if there are more people there is an increase in price. No area of the unit is locked off or off limits. We used Suite Paradise and felt we got a good price. They were great. We asked for building one and second floor and they said yes right away.
Any specific questions?

Stayed at Whaler's Cove for Thanksgiving and it's unbelievable !
Yes,Bldg 1 is the Bldg to stay in and if you get one of the first two units on the east side of the bldg you get EAST/WEST views. That's correct sunrise and sunset..There are three floors(it like to me that floor 3 could be 2 story because the 4th floor didn't have any patios), I suggest either two or three. One has a great view but I prefer to be up a little. The units are very large and clean. It was a great week.

By the way, if you are looking for something to do they started this tubing adventure down the ditches from the plantations....it's a hoot.Great time!
I went through Suite Paradise and they were extremely nice to work with.
