Westin pools

Our family of four (kids ages 13 and 10) are booked for our first "real" vacation ever in Maui at the Westin in early June. I've read on travel forums that their pools are WAY TOO COLD! Does anyone have experience with this? Are they warmer in the summer? Would the Hyatt be better?

Thank you!!

Is this a "real" travel question? Sorry if I'm mistaken, but your e-mail address makes me skeptical.

Angela10: We were there several years ago during the month of September and the answer is YES! Admittedly, I get cold easily but my husband does not, and he thought the pools were on the cold side too. The ocean was definitely warmer.
I haven't stayed at the Hyatt so I can't comment about that hotel.

Caribtraveler: Thanks for your thoughts. I phoned the hotel pool yesterday and they said they keep the pool at 80 to 82 degrees. But our friends who have stayed there beg to differ. Thanks again.

I was at the Westin in Maui in April 2004 and didn't notice anything wrong with the temps of the pools or anything else at the resort. I'm normally sensitive about water temps and I didn't notice anything wrong with the water there. Maybe your friends were in the water during overcast weather or something like that which might have been deceiving.

If you are into pools instead of the ocean/beach, I think the Westin is a good choice due to the number and layout of the pools. There is a lot of space, they are spread out, there is a great slide. There are different options for guests depending on what they want.

Overall we had a great experience at the Westin in Maui.
