Western MASS - Mother's Day

We are headed out of Boston on Mother's DAy (towards Springfield/Chicopee) and would like to stop somewhere enroute or perhaps outside of Springfield for brunch. Not really into the big buffet thing but a nice inn/restaurant w/ view/history and a la carte menu would work.

As someone who grew up in the Berkshires, it always makes me smile when I hear Springfield area referred to as Western Mass. We felt we'd gone to central MA by the time we got there!

I don't know how far off the beaten path you want to go, but the Yankee Pedlar Inn in Holyoke is nice and they have a Mother's Day Brunch as well. http://tinyurl.com/roq2r

thanks for your reply - this is one I saw on-line but my mom isn't so big on the buffet-style. Do you know if they will have a la carte as well? I can call or e-mail them - no worries!

There are lots of good choices in Northampton (about 20 minutes north of springfield on I-91). Green Street Cafe would be excellent. Also Fitzwillies, Northampton Inn, Sylvesters, Spoleto ... try a search on brunch northampton.

And I notice Green Street Cafe is only open for dinner. Sorry about that.

try the 1790 House in Westboro on Rte 9......or Publick House in Sturbridge....or the Whistling Swan in Sturbridge. All are in great historic houses...the Sturbridge locations are at about the halfway point.

This is very interesting to me because our daughter goes to Hampshire and we're in that area once or twice a year. But there's probably no need to revive this thread for the OP as Mother's Day has come and gone!
