West Coast Roadtrip
I am planning a 21 day road trip in June 16 starting in San Francisco, driving the coast to Portland, Or and onto Seattle, Wa. I would like to do a circular route back to SF and see as much as possible. Any suggestions would be very helpful as I do not mind driving long distances within reason.

Hi! My guess is that you haven't gotten a lot of responses because your question is so open-ended. Maybe if you can provide some more information, we can get you some good answers. Do you like big cities or small towns or hiking out in the middle of nowhere, or would you like a little of each? In terms of sightseeing, do you like nature or museums or good food or just walking around to see local culture? Should sightseeing in San Francisco be part of your trip, or are you from there?

Also, "June 16" has come and gone. Do you mean in June 2017?
What do you mean by "driving long distances within reason"? What's "within reason" for one person may or may not seem "within reason to you"
Do you intend to spend the bulk of your trip "just driving"/ You can reach Portland, OR in about 9 to 10 hours drive time from SF. We you planning to make that in "on hop" (some might think that's "within reason") or do you want to make 1 or more stops along the way.
How long are you willing to drive each day?
How long do you wish to stay at any pre-planned stopping point?
For our driving trips we found it best to drive no more than 3 or 4 hours between "stopping points" and staying 2 to 3 nights in each l"stopping point".
Hint: Use Google Maps or Map Quest to plot out potential routes. You'll get a good idea of distances and what points of interest are in-between SF and Portland and between Portland and Seattle.

Lovely along Oregon Coast. But that's further East. Any fire damage N of Portland? Surely you might detour to Mt. Ranier Nat'l Pk. And how about Mt. Baker? Also other more wilderness areas not far off the main route. So why not camp and hike some?
