It's 30 minutes over your hoped-for travel time, but you might consider the Monadnock Region of NH, which is a straight shot out of the city to Rts. 684, 84, and 91, then head east. Hiking, galleries, theatre, shopping, lakes, wonderful restaurants and places to stay
