weekend trip report Indianapolis/ Adams Mark disasters

our 4th wkend was spent in Indy for some food &sightseeing. We got a $109 room rate at Adam's Mark; impressive. We arrived at 3:15 to a packed lobby and were told that our room wasn't ready. Checked luggage and went to Centre City Mall to kill time.Typical mall- Nordstrom was nice, everything else ho-hum. Arrived back at 5:30 ( were going to dinner at 6:30) Waited 30 min to find the ONE guy in hotel who had a key to the luggage room. Totally unacceptable. The hotel did nothing to make up for our inconvenience and their poor service . Barely had time to dress for dinner. They will hear from us! Had great, but pricey, steak dinner at St Elmo's. Toured downtown- very clean, safe, easy to get around.
Breakfast at hotel meant a 25 min wait for an omelette. Checking out meant waiting another 20 min at understaffed desk. This place has some serious management problems!
Went to Embrey's and Gaia's wineries in town for tastings- very nice! Each had 2 wines which we enjoyed.
Had lunch at Agio's- fabulous meal; excellent service. A rare treat.
look forward to Indy again- saw a restaurant called Palomino's which we wanted to try. Their downtown area sure has improved!!

All Adam's Mark properties suck.

Sorry- I meant Easley's winery! most of the wines were a bit too sweet for my taste, but they had a light red,Chancellor Noir, which was a decent summer wine. Wonderful people and gift shop here!

We had relatives visit us in Texas and they stayed at the Adams Mark on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. According to them it was awful. One night the fire alarm went off and they had to go to the lobby with their two children. There were only two employees at the hotel and no one could tell them what was going on. They stayed in the lobby for two hours and were finally told water had gotten into the alarm. No one offered them anything until after they had been in the lobby for an hour and they were finally given water.
The hotel was understaffed and it was a very bad experience for them.

Danita,
Totally agree! The room was nice, food was good, place was clean, good workout room/pool. However , they had 3 conventions there and at times had ONE person at the desk!!! Totally understaffed and inexcusable! They knew they were booked and busy but did not plan for it.
