Weekend in Sedona - what to do?

Planning to surprise my husband with a weekend in Sedona for his 40th bday - any must see/must do suggestions? We're outdoorsy Floridians and have never been to AZ.

There are lots of possibilites. If you
like to hike, you should do the West
Fork of Oak Creek Canyon. It's only a
few miles north of Sedona and of great
scenic beauty. It's very easy as well!

There is a nice train trip up the Verde River (verderiverrr.com).

Or you could drive up to Flagstaff and visit Sunset Crater and Walnut Canyon National Monuments.

Then again, if you're only there for a weekend you can find plenty of hiking right around Sedona itself or take one of the 4wd Red Rock tours. Have fun!

Don't miss the Broken Arrow Pink Jeep Tour!! It is SO much fun. Your husband will love it.

Although we had wanted to do the 7:00 am. tour, we had to do the 5:00 tour due to time restraints and it turned outto be a great time--this was the middle of June.

Sorry to highjack this thread a little:

chicgal - I am going to be at the Sedona Jazz Fest this year as well!

If you'd like to meet up with a fellow Fodorite, I plan to go to the Saturday night Jam Session. I probably won't do more than that because my time in Sedona is limited, and I want to do a jeep tour and some hiking.

If you want to email me to try to meet up, my email is [email protected].
