sedona - 2 days enough???

we're flying in from nyc early july and plan on staying in santa fe for 3 days and then drive (about 7 hours) to sedona for 3 days. is there enough to do for 3 days in sedona (we're staying at the Enchantment)or should we extend our stay in santa fe for another day. any feedback is greatly appreciated. thanks!

I love Sedona!! I think 3 days is good there - since on the 3rd you'll actually travel. The Enchantment is wonderful. If you like shopping, there are all kinds of galleries and such that have really interesting things. I highly recommend one of the jeep tours. The beauty of Sedona is in the red rock formations - and there are many places you can take a jeep tour to that are truly spectacular. Also, since you'll have a car - driving around is just wonderful. Plus - if you want a bit of pampering, the Enchantment is the place to be.....

Three days is enough for Sedona itself, but once there you are very close to many other scenic places you'll want to travel to as well. You could easily spend ten days to two weeks traveling and seeing the sites in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. While in Sedona a nice drive is up Oak Creek Canyon to the top of the Mogollon Rim near Flagstaff.

I think there is definitely enough to do in Sedona for 3 days. Since you are going in July, it is going to be hot. Plan activities like hiking in the morning when it is cooler. Then spend your afternoons at the pool or spa at Enchantment or shopping at the shady Tlaquepaque shopping center. The jeep tours are fun - I liked the Ancient Ruin tour, since it brings you to a cliff dwelling on private property. The drive through Oak Creek Canyon is great - you can stop at SLide Rock Park to swim in the creek. There are hiking trails that begin on the Enchantment proerty. Plan for a long leisurely dinner creekside at L'Auberge - as good as most restaurants in NYC. I don't think you will be bored if you stay the extra day.

In Sedona itself, you might enjoy the little Sedona Motion Picture Museum in the downtown area. It'll remind you of the more than 40 movies that have been filmed in the area, like "Broken Arrow." Since it'll be hot, you might like some ice cream from the Black Cow on the main street. If your jeep tour doesn't take you to Red Rock Crossing, go on your own. It's a popular spot for photographers, artists and weddings. You might drive out to Jerome, a cute town in the hills, and check out the art galleries. Also see the remains of cliff dwellings at Montezuma's Castle National Monument in Camp Verde. Lots to do in the area.
