Weekend in Pittsburgh for a Pens game in Dec

We have tickets for a pens game on Sat afternoon. Where should we stay and what should we do FRI evening through Sunday. Where should we eat? It is the weekend before Christmas is anything special going on in the city?

You'll need to be more specific as to your budget and your interests before anyone can provide you with a useful answer.

Stay downtown (pronounced don-ton) and walk to the arena if you can. There are also a couple hotels on the Southside near Station Square that are fairly convenient.

Saturday or Sunday morning, stroll through the Strip District and find something tasty for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Though I don't know how active the area is for strollers in December.

Friday night could be an excursion to Shadyside/Walnut Street for a good meal and upscale shoppes.

Take the incline up the mountain for spectacular views (leaving from Station Square). Then have a meal at one of the Southside resturants.

If you go up the incline to Mt Washington, there are some good restaurants up there with great views of downtown.

There are a couple of hotels on the northside near Heinz field and PNC park that would be good if you cannot get a good price right near the Consol Energy Center.

DeLuca's in the Strip for breakfast. You can go to the original Primanti's in the Strip for a "permanny samwich." The other Primanti locations do not have the same atmosphere as the original.
