Week at the end of July

We have a flight booked to Denver at the end of July for 1 week. We have a 4 year old. We like the outdoor stuff, but cant camp. We're thinking of the Estes Park area or the Breckenridge area. What are your suggestions and what are the crowds like?

We've stayed in Frisco (a few miles from Breckinridge) twice during the summer. First time in mid-June (1999), second in mid-July (2002). (Actually, we've stayed in Estes Park in July too. But that was in 1984 so don't know that it's relevant anymore.) The weather was better in July. But we didn't find crowds to be a problem either time. I suspect that you would find RMNP to be much more crowded.

The weather will be better in July most likely, since even in Denver, where it's usually 5-10 degrees warmer, we can have cool and cloudy or rainy in some of June. In the 50's. It will also be more crowded in July.

I suggest that you repost this with a Colorado title, you will get a much bigger response. We love Breck, some others like Vail & Aspen, Estes would be nice, too. I think there is a lot to do any of these places, with a 4 year old. You might check lodging prices & see what looks more reasonable.
