4th of July - what mountain town?

Hello!
My boyfriend and I want to spend 4th of July somewhere in the mountains but are having trouble deciding where to go! Do any of you know of towns that have fun celebrations and are also nice resort towns with activities such as horseback riding and maybe downhill mt. biking?

We were thinking about Vail but can't find any 4th activities except for the Avon fireworks. Keystone seems to have a lot, but weren't sure what the town was like. And we'll be flying in/out of Denver so will want something w/in a 3 hour drive.

Any suggestions? We really appreciate it!

Thank you!
Alison

Frisco is fairly close to Denver and used to have fun activities on the 4th. Follow that up with fireworks around Lake Dillon at night. Not sure if they still do all of this, though. Natives??

Aettel,

You may wish to repost this with the name of the state in the title. It was just blind luck that I clicked on it and happen to be from Colorado.

That said, my money's on Frisco for the 4th of July. They have a parade, live music (The Coasters) and a great display over the lake. Plus Frisco is a hop, skip and a jump to Breckenridge, Keystone and Copper Mountain. The Holiday Inn there offers lake view rooms as well.

It's gonna be a party. Check it out at: http://www.townoffrisco.com/events2000.htm

Thanks for your suggestions (about renaming the post too!). I checked out Frisco and it looks great. We're actually leaving on the 4th, though and would miss the fireworks. But it still looks like a great time!

Keep an eye on the weather.

I was in Vail for the 4th of July in (I think) '92.

It snowed.
