The offical web site shows March as part of the winter. I would plan on cold nights and the days could be anywhere from winter storm to nice.

The weather in Yosemite in early spring is very unpredictable. I've been lucky enought to have been there many times in April and had warm and sunny days with cold nights. It can still snow in April.

I doubt if I've been much help but really there is now way of knowing.

I second that: the weather is VERY changeable in Yosemite at that time of year. We went on the last weekend the ski area was open and got snowed in!

I go to Yosemite every March (we are only 3 hrs away & it is a quiet time there.) - you will definately find snow on the ground everywhere, so plan on wearing warm boots & socks and dressing in layers (gets warm when you go inside any building). You would only beable to hike around the valley floor area (everything else is blocked with snow - nothing really opens for major hikes until late May or early June.) There is some cross county sking at Badger Pass (which is as far as you can go up the road that ends at Glaicer Point - good place for summer hiking trail heads). It maybe a longer season for snow this year since this is an El Nino Year (maybe not?!?)

To Also Planning:

The weather in April should be warmer. We've been many times in April and the weather was so warm I wore shorts on the hike to Vernal Falls. But it can also snow and be cold. We had a couple of inches of snow fall on us in mid-May.

Again you can't count on the weather but the chances are it will be warmer & better than March.

The waterfalls in April are AWESOME! It's my favorite time of the year to go.

You can't predict the weather in Yosemite in March/April. There is a danger of snow storms and mandatory snow chains at any time.

As long as you are prepared for that you should have lots of fun!
