I second the recommendation for Milwaukee Joe's. EXCELLENT ice cream and custard! Southlake Town Square is nice for shopping and strolling.

Don't rely on cabs. They are expensive and VERY inconvenient in this area. You'll waste a lot of time calling cab companies and waiting for them to arrive since cabs are not plentiful outside of the airport!

The Grapevine Mills mall is okay if you're staying near there, but I wouldn't make a special trip to Grapevine just for shopping there. The other places mentioned are much better (Galleria, Northpark and, for outlet shopping, the Allen Premium Outlets). One of the best places for shopping not yet mentioned is Stonebriar Mall and the entire area surrounding it in Frisco.

Oh I see you'll be in Southlake, that's not very far from Grapevine. It think it would take manybe around 30 min or so to get to Frisco and Stonebriar Mall from there. They do have a Sam Moon there that TxTravelPro was referring to. It would be longer to get to Allen's Outlets.

I managed to do some of things suggested in between work: H3 Ranch Steakhouse in Stockyards, Babe's Chicken House in Roanoke, Milwaukee Joe's in Southlake Square, all of which were great. Southlake Town Square is very nice to walk around and DSW was across a main road. Another I was visited was Up N Smoke BBQ in Keller which was also really good (particularly ribs and brisket).

Grapevine Mall was OK, mostly outlet, hopefully next time I can go to one of the other places. Climate was lovely, sunny days and dry heat (except Monday which rained alot).
People were very friendly and hospitable.

We consider 75-80F to be "cool" down here!

We've been enjoying the cool fall weather (which others would call warm in other parts of the country/world).

Odin, I'm glad you had fun; you picked a great time weather-wise to come to Texas. March/April and then October are my favorite times - sunny, but not too warm.

Well, as luck would have it, I'm visiting again end of Feb. I hope the weather will be pleasant and this time I'll take some days off to see more of the area.

I try to avoid Dallas in February. That seems to be the time of most of their trademark ice storms. Not snow, just thick dangerous ice.Shuts everything down.

Since it's for business I cannot choose the dates. But I appreciate the information.
