Hornblower is awesome, and might be more comfortable in the heat. I know you are coming from Arizona but NYC in July is hot and smelly.

I think that broadway.com is another place for discount tickets. I hear that Wicked is wonderful. So, if your heart is set on it, go for it. Another popular one now is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You might consider doing something indoors, so consider a museum for that time-Brooklyn, Natural History, Met. Admission fees are suggested, so you can pay as little as you like.

Also, if your boyfriend is into plants, the Botanical Garden on the Canadian side is wonderful, and their butterfly house is big and gorgeous. If you miss going into the Botanical Gardens, the flower clock is free to view. Also, there are a ton of vineyards towards Niagara on the Lake. I don't know if that is something that interests you.

Oh good. I didn't know that about Canada. ..we don't have passports though. ..so, maybe I need to look into getting some. I don't know if there will be enough time to get them back by our trip. I do have Sunday, Monday, and some of Tuesday to spend in that area.

So...i know what we are going to be doing probably Tuesday... Turns out that between buffalo and Rochester is an amusement park called Darien lake... Looks like a bunch of fun and the location is right on track... Does anyone know about it?

Ok. so, changed plans to exclude my sister coming to pick us up from the airport and taking us to pick up a car Sunday...She can't commit to anything and wants to make such a hassle out off things. telling me it's 2 months ahead why am I doing all of this now? So instead, now I have a car from buffalo when we arrive, we have to take a shuttle to it, and return it in Rochester... Same price pretty much. It's weird, when I put down 7am the price goes up LIKE $50!!! So I have 8am pick up...$38 a day. I can cancel up to the day before.i also booked us to stay the night at lofts on pearl in buffalo for Saturday night...They are 2 bedrooms.. Now just need to figure out Sundayand Monday.

You complete the applications and take them/photos to the Post Office. You'd have enough time, but I'd pay for the expedited service just to be sure.

I just renewed my passport earlier this year for a trip in May to Mexico (since rescheduled to fall). I printed out the application and filled it out and went to AAA for passport photos (think the cost was around $7.50). Had to take the form and pictures to the post office since FedEx does not ship to PO Boxes, used the USPS fast shipping method and got my new passport back in a little over two weeks. I paid for expedite and the total cost was $170, $110 to renew and $60 for the expedite fee.

We renewed our passports this year and did NOT pay extra for expedited service and got our passports within 8 days of mailing them in.

So... It's a good thing I was looking over everything and preparing all the ticket information... Apparently, not only is there a Rochester new york... There's also a Rochester Minnesota, which is actually where we fly out of.... There is a connecting flight in Chicago before it's off to Phoenix. Now, I've got to figure out what to do... Good thing... How horrible it would have been to drive to Rochester N.Y. from buffalo expecting to board a plane taking off from Minnesota...

That's almost 1000 miles. You'll need to fly to get there, and it's not going to be cheap. It might be cheaper to pay a change fee and move your return flight to Buffalo.

Yeah... Maybe I should have gotten the trip insurance... I'm going to get on the phone and see what they say. The good thing is that I noticed it before we were there bags packed...
Oh, also changed my hotel to the New Yorker.... The room we had at the Roosevelt we shared with my son... They wanted $4-$500 for a suite with a door that closes off the bedroom, private.... Talked with my boyfriend and we both believed that was important for our big night in the big city... Looked around and found one at the New Yorker... It wasn't cheap, but it's do able...i think that's going to make things easier in the morning too? Seems like it'll be closer to JFK.

Thank you for your continued interest and support.

The reunion has been changed to Rochester... Good thing I put us on the early flight to buffalo. We'll have plenty of time.

I'll update you on the Rochester thing. Just have butterflies in my stomach making the call.

Unfortunately, the New Yorker is on the west (far) side of Manhattan, putting you substantially farther from JFK than when you were booked for the Roosevelt, which is on the EAST side (closer to JFK). You're no longer right by the Midtown Tunnel but near Penn Station, which will require you to drive across Manhattan, though at that early hour I can't imagine it will add much more than 10 minutes to your trip. But the New Yorker is also not as nice a hotel. But it's a suite, so that's a plus.

Trip insurance would not have saved you anything on this kind of a mistake. It was completely your fault since you booked yourself flying out of the wrong city. You might get lucky and find a sympathetic ear, but don't bet on it. Definitely admit right off the bat that you made a stupid mistake and it was all your fault. That kind of admission can actually get you farther than you might think. And JetBlue has more reasonable change fees than some airlines, but their flights tend to go up in cost closer to the day of departure than other airlines, so it may all be a wash. You're going to have to pay a change fee PLUS the difference in the cost of the flight today vs. when you booked. This will cost you several hundred dollars at least.

Even with three people I would much rather have a large room with the Roosevelt in a suite at the New Yorker. The Roosevelt is a much nicer hotel by four is incredibly wonderful staff and does Doug mentioned closer to JFK. We stayed at the Roosevelt a number of times and always enjoy it.

Back to Roosevelt... And booked the king suite!!! Making good money right now and it equals a night at work... And spent more than that at the casino!!! Booked through hotels.com and I'm almost to my 10 nights, then I get 1 free... My average right now is about a hundred dollars... So I'll make sure to get enough (2) nights so I can get that taken off my bill.

Also since the reunion changed to Rochester, it's out in the boon docks... Since there's going to be drinking, i asked about pitching a tent... Which, now others are doing as well... So that's another nights savings.

Sucks a little that we will have to leave so early in the morning... Tomorrow,i get paid and can spend some time on the horn...i will look into switching our flight to go to Rochester instead... That is with jet blue.

Been keeping an eye on the fares... They aren't that much different than when I booked...

We've been working a lot this last six months... We deserve to have a nice vacation...

Thank you again for saving my tail;-)

Called JetBlue to see about changing my flight to fly from jfc into Rochester instead of buffalo... The fare difference is only $60 per ticket.... But then they add a change fee to each one of $150!!! So, It'll cost me $450...i didn't do it since I didn't have the money yesterday.... And since that was less of a necessity.... Oh, and I was still in sticker shock over the price of the suite at the Roosevelt that I booked...i think it may be comparable to a room at trump hotel... Any ideas on that???? Hoping I'm not opening up pandoras box.

On the phone now with United. she was going to change it for the difference in price $100 something each and a change fee of $200 each...i told her then it would just be cheaper to cancel the flight and book new tickets... She said they would still charge the change fee...

First I called cheapfares4u... They said to call the airline. When I'm talking with them right now, they told me I needed to call the travel agent... When I told them it was cheapfares4u... They asked for their phone number.

I've been on hold ever since. Crossing my fingers and toes.

Ok, so he said I had to email them the request and they will respond within 24 hours. I wrote in the letter the things you said, Doug, about it being my fault.

We'll see how it goes.

It's only 60miles (1hr drive) from Buffalo airport to Rochester.

Is it worth the hassle and price of changing to save an hour?
