Lots of places don't rent "one way" rentals.

There are few one-way car rentals, and they are expensive if you can get one. Think about it, how would rental agencies keep inventory if they allow the cars to be driven elsewhere? It doesn't work that way.

The plates you saw were likely people who had driven from those states, or lived in those states and haven't changed their plates. Duh.

All those out of state cars were probably assigned for out of state one ways to get them home.

You certainly seem to get around, maybe you could tell us about the places you are seeing, not just the motels and car hire places.

Currently most of the car rental places in Arizona are experiencing a shortage of cars. They are offering great deals to anyone in another state who wants to drive a car IN to Arizona and leave it there.

What does he expect? All the rental cars to have Arizona plates. That doesn't make any sense. But then the rant is what?

Is that a posting or an encrypted message?

A couple of years ago we wanted to rent in Phoenix and drop off in LA and all the rental car facilities had usurious drop off fees.

These things you are posting ARE NOT TRIP REPORTS. They are reviews.

Yes, there are one way rentals - with no charge - but only if you are moving a car from a place with too many to a place with too few. (Lots of cars from FL are driven north to NY for the super busy summer season.)

But if that's what you wanted you should have arranged it - and determined any cos t- when you made the reservation.

And if you didn't reserve in advance - or check on one-way costs - have only yourself to blame. (Are you related to Dobby the Turtle - there are echoes of the same attitude?)

Last Saturday morning I rented a car in Tucson. I drove it within a half mile of Los Algodones Mexico and walked over the border for a couple hours. From there I went to Yuma.
Leaving Yuma I spent a night in Eloy before driving as far east as Van Horn Texas. I turned the car back in at Tucson and rode the bus back to the Ronstadt Transit Center which is across the street from the Amtrak station.
Can you ride to or from Arizona on Amtrak?
