" I kept asking when football weather started. It never does"
Sure it does.
Football weather is nice and warm and sunny.
That's why folks where shorts and sundresses to football games.
That's why folks love to come visit Florida in the fall!
Why are you complaining about warm weather in the fall? You wanted to wear your wool and flannel clothing?

Oh, that age old argument about it's no hotter or more humid in Florida in the summer than many places. Well, true, but the main difference is that there is little to no relief to that for 5 or 6 months in Florida, as opposed to a "heat wave" lasting a few days or maybe a week in many other places.
We just spent a week in Naples, Florida a few weeks ago. It was surprisingly not as hot and humid as usual for late May -- mainly in the 90's but humidity maybe only about 70% on the average. We flew to Philadelphia and it was hotter and more humid there when we arrived that it had been the whole week in Naples. But during that next week it was in the 60s and 70s in Philly, while it will be staying in the upper 80s and 90s WITH lots of humidity in Naples for a number of months yet.
I also love the argument about "there are always breezes in Florida" -- well again, maybe true if you are near the beach, but when it's in the mid 90s and you're hit with a gust of air that temperature and about 90% humidity, it's not exactly cooling!

In all seriousness, I think few people who talk about Florida humidity realize that it is only around 90% June-August. In May it is often below 60%--I know because I started checking the Weather Channel app on my phone out of curiosity, and confirming when I found the reading surprisingly low. I feel pretty confident that DC is more humid year-round than Tampa, but haven't checked--not that it feels more humid, but that it actually is.

OK, this is interesting:

Humidity levels swing a lot between morning and afternoon, wherever you are in Florida.
