Watkins Glen area accommodations

We are looking for somewhat upscale accommodations in the Watkins Glen/southern Seneca Lake area for 2 nights. There seem to be a lot of B&Bs but its hard to tell from pictures which have particularly nice guest rooms, etc. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

A few years ago we stayed at the Sparrow Hawk B&B. It was more than a basic B&B, but I would not call it upscale. We really enjoy or time there – nice property, clean room, wonderful host and delicious breakfast. I would definitely go back.
Enjoy your trip – and don’t miss the wineries

We have heavily researched this area for an August trip and we are staying at the Glenora Inn and winery- several miles north of Watkins Glen-looks like has nice restaurant and all the rooms face Seneca Lake with patios or balconies...hope this helps! Susan

I have stayed at the Longhouse Lodge Motel & Manor, just north of Watkins Glen on Rte 14.

Their "motel" has super nice rooms (equivalent to 4* hotel amenities), and the manor up the hill is a luxury B&B setup.

I stayed there in 2001 with a group of high-end auto enthusiasts to drive the race course. The organizer of the event is a Californian wine seller with very high expectations when it comes to lodging and dining. Since 2001, he has come back to stay at the Longhouse twice a year, every year, during his events. You will not be disappointed.

Glenora Inn is known as one of the nicest in the area. Cannot comment on Longwood. Good luck, and please post how your trip went -- there are quite a few people looking for Finger Lakes accomodations!

Just returned from our trip. We gave up on trying to find a really nice B& B and spent two nights at the Inn at Glenory Winery and were very satisfied, particularly with the lake view from the patio or deck every room has. Food at dinner was ok, but lake view setting was great. Had a better meal at Stonecat across the lake, but hard to see the lake from Stonecat. In terms of activities besides the wineries, the Watkins Glen waterfall hiking trail was excellent; we also enjoyed a private sail boat charter. We can also highly recommend a B&B in Corning called Hillcrest manor--the public and guest rooms are beautifull decorated, good breakfast, nice hosts, convenient location.

Glad you enjoyed it! Stonecat is one of my favorite places -- love their ravioli. The Glen is awesome -- hopefully you got a little wet under the waterfall -- this weekend was HOT! Did you take the Malibar cruise? I've always want to try that. Thanks for B&B reco in Corning -- I may need that someday! SG
