Washington Inn - Key West
I have never been to Key West, and want to make sure this is a good place to stay. My husband and I found a great package price for 5 nights/6 days. We will be driving down, but are hoping that we will be able to walk to all the attractions. Thanks for any comments!

The Washington Street Inn is about two blocks from Duval St. & the beach. Only thing is its location at the high end of Duval St. which is not all that bad if you are walking to a lot of attractions or Mallory Square for sunset activities, about 15 minutes or so. They do offer some great packages & they also have a nice tropical grounds setting & a pool . The rooms are okay its just what you are looking for. They are just that rooms. They all have there own entrance & bathrooms & parking. I think you will enjoy this property for the price.

It depends on how MUCH you like to walk! The Washington Street Inn is on the Atlantic side of Key West, while the sunset celebrations, most restaurants and tourist activities are on the Gulf. You might want to check out a map of Key West before deciding to stay there. There's a great map at

Susan's got a point. Starting out in the morning and going downtown isn't a problem. Going back and forth can be a bit of a drag. And at the end of a long day, it can be a long walk! (As the saying goes, been there, done that...)
We use bikes rather extensively on our KW trips. Readily available and easily rented, they seem to be an optimum solution.
Quick suggestion: Take the Conch Train tour ride as soon as you get down there. It'll give you a sense of the island. Then you can go back to those things that really interest you.
I guarantee you'll have a great time! My wife and I are leaving in ten days for our 11th annual Keys week...

It has the look of a motel that has been renovated - nothing special. All of the rooms surround the pool and there is some parking. Rsmith is correct about the location. You will do alot of walking and/or biking. But the location isn't terrible. I should also add I know someone personally who was very dissatisfied when they checked-in that they left and went elsewhere.

If you got a great price (less than $100 per night) and don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room (who does?), I think it'll be fine. But never be afraid to complain if you're not pleased with your room - especially when you're on a package deal and there for several nights!

You can also rent scooters which are a blast but I still suggest staying closer like Hyatt, Hilton, Pier house, or Key resort. I loved all the walking up and down Duval it made me feel soooo good and alive! I think you will have tons of fun I just got back from my first trip and want to go back this minute (especially as I sit at work seeing the slushy snow come down). Happy Vacationing!!!!
