Anyone have suggestions as to which tour to do for Washington by Night tours? We'll be there in April with 2 elderly parents and a baby. We'd like a service with a narrated tour, where you can ride the whole time, or get off at monuments and then get picked up by another shuttle. I've done some research on these buy would like others opinions as well.

I did the OnBoard Monuments by Moonlight Tour. You stay with the same group the entire time. There is a good amount of walking required as you walk from the Korean Memorial to Lincoln to Vietnam before picking the shuttle back up. Friend of mine had a broken leg and still had time to see everything so you are given plenty of time to take your time walking. The rest of the sites you get dropped off nearby. I would highly recommend doing a tour like this, but be aware of the amount of walking. If the elderly parents don't want to walk, I believe they can stay on the bus. Maybe have them stay on the bus then walk the reverse to see Vietnam. This would eliminate a lot of walking , but also Lincoln Memoria.

Cris87..I am very interested too as my 80 yr old to be Dad wants this for his 80th BD this year...
he can't walk more than 20 feet do to a hip and knee injury in teh Korean War..but still wants to go..a final hurrah I guess to his Korean War days..

Would you consider sharing any private limo options?

If you can do without professional narration, you could hire a DC taxi by the hour -- the cabbie takes you from place to place and waits while you get out and walk around the monuments. Finding an interested cabbie would be your challenge.

I would only do a night tour if the weather is nice. We did a night tour in mid-March one year and it was FREEZING!!! Plus, I think all the monuments are nice in the evening, with the exception of the Vietnam Memorial. I found it hard to view in the dark; much better in the daylight.

If I were taking my 89 year old mom, I would choose daytime.

I've taken the Monuments by Moonlight tour two different times and have been very pleased each time. That said, I have not used other night tour companies. I would be cautious and only do these during April-September because I could see it getting very cold during other times.

We took the Old Town Trolley night tour of the monuments last week and we really enjoyed it.
We stayed on the same trolley the entire time. The driver stopped at the memorials and gave us plenty of time to view and take pictures (about 20 min) and allowed extra time at the Lincoln memorial for those that wanted to see the Korean War and the Vietnam wall memorials.
Then we got back on the same trolley. This was nice because we did not have to wait for a new trolley to come along like we did during the day.
I would recommend this trip, it was very neat to see the memorials at night.
