Walking distance

Walking distance
Going to D.C. tomorrow. Tenative plan is to go to Arlington Cemetery first and park there. then walk (?) to the lincoln Memorial. Is this doable?
Then on to the metro to go see the Whgite House.
Please point put the flaws in this preliminary plan.

Yes, it can be done. We've walked all the way around the Tidal Basin too when we've come from Arlington Cemetary Metro.
While I don't have map in front of me right now, I think it may be just as easy to walk to WH from Lincoln Memorial, then take Metro back to Arlington.

The main flaw as I see it is there really is no Metro stop for the Lincoln Memorial. Metro for AC and for WH, but not LM. Rb's tip might work best. But either way it's walk back to previous destination.
The advantage to walking to/from LM from the WH is there are plenty of other things to see on the way (reflecting pool, WWII Memorial, Vietnam, etc.). Walking from Arlington is over a big (and beautiful) bridge.
BTW, it is going to be hot and humid in DC this weekend. Will likely effect any serious walking plans.

Agree it's quite doable. In fact for the three sites you're interested in it's the best plan.
Yes, you are better off WALKING from the Lincoln Memorial to the White House (via the Bicentennial pond). There is a walkway on the east side of the WH to take you to the north side of it.
From the White House (north side), it's 2 blocks to two different Blue line stations (Farragut West or McPhearson Sq.) to take you back to Arlington Cemetery.

One possible flaw of my previous suggestion: last subway to Arlington
Make certain of the station's closing time. If you find too many diversions you could find that the last train stopping at Arlington is long-gone. The station has reduced hours compared to other Metro locations. See websites already listed.
