Don't know when you're looking to go but if Hale Mahinui is available, it's a great rental.

I just booked a reservation for one night at Volcano Village Lodge, mid-August.

The owner has been very kind helping me plan the itinerary as we are only spending 1 night around VNP, driving from Kona side. I am really looking forward to staying at Volcano Village Lodge.

Jetset and Matnikstym have it right: Kilauea Lodge is lovely. We stayed 2 night in their cottage nearby (I think it's called Tutu's cottage?) had yummy brekfass, and a delicious dinner, at the lodge. You'll love the big fireplace in the big sittingroom/dining area

For a less expensive option, we stayted at My Island B&B. Very good rates, simple, clean lodging and nice people. I think they may be selling a few of their cottages, but think rooms in the main house will still be available. It was a good, inexpensive choice for us in June.

I agree with matnikstym. I've stayed there twice and the food is to die for, especially the dinners, but the wonderful full breakfasts, which are included, are memorable as well.
