Vivid sunrise tomorrow 7/26

Hi,

I saw on CNN that due to a huge sandstorm in North Africa the sunrise tomorrow throughout the Carib and into Florida will be particularly vivid and colorful.

Anyone in that area willing to report on and photograph the sunrise will become my new favorite Fodorite!

Thanks,

mm

And Aug. 26 & 27 will feature a visible with the eye view of Mars in the night sky. Won't happen again until your baby's great-great grandchildren are alive.

It's on a weekend and its summer. Plan a party?

The sunsets should also prove to be equally spectacular.

I live in a city and there are a lot of trees around my house..but I get up early and if it is a pretty sunrise, I will take some photos from the house and give you a report.

In North America it is going to rise in the sky and be visible to all in the evenings. I can't remember the exact times but I do remember that the second night was later and terminated at 2:30 or 3:30 CST (Central)- my time. So I thought- aaaahh 8:30 pm to ---am- a PARTY.

I just put my digital camera by the front door in hopes that my sleepy little self will remember to take it along on my sunrise walk in the morning. If I get any good pics from here in the Caribbean I will post a link.

But, to clarify, Mars is frequently visible with the naked eye, and will continue to be. This is just an extraordinarily-close view.

To clarify further, at least according to that snopes article, the mars thingy was 2 years ago. But it will be pretty close again in October of this year (not August).

Still, any excuse for a party . . .

You are absolutely right, jlm mi, and a newspaper by me has it all wrong. They have the Aug. 27 & 28 down as if it was this year.

Thanks, as I would have been looking and not finding.

But I will be at the lake and have a party anyway.

As for the sandstorm, I heard that, at least while it's still around, it will prevent hurricanes. Thank goodness for a little relief!

That African dust is awful here on our island. My car and patio are covered in it, and the horizon has been unseen for days.

I'm ready for it to end, but I will endure if it means no hurricanes this season.

There hasn't been anything worth taking photos of in this area, TripleSec. However, the dust has finally cleared and I can see the horizon today! Maybe we'll get our usual glorious sunset this evening.
