Visiting University of Miami, where should we stay?
I am planning on taking my 2 teenage sons to visit the University of Miami in Coral Gables We plan on spending 2 nights/ 3 days in Florida. Should we stay in Ft. Lauderdale or Coral Gables? This will be during spring break so we want to make a mini vacation out of it. We prefer a hotel with spacious rooms and other families.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Alright I did some more research and I think we should stay at the Ritz Carlton in Coconut GRove. It appears to be centrally located and a nice hotel with reasonable rates. Can anyone who has stayed here give me an opinion?
Is it clean? How long of a drive to South Beach?
Thank you.

The Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove is a very nice hotel (I've only been there for brunch, never to stay), as is the Biltmore in Coral Gables. Both are convenient to the U, but probably not where I would choose to stay with teens.
If I were making it a mini-vacation, I would stay at the beach and make the commute in to Coral Gables for the school visit. I wouldn't stay in South Beach, though, too much hassle with traffic and parking. Something in the mid-beach area, close to where 195 meets Collins, for easier access to the rest of Miami.
