visiting Pearl Harbor
On our upcoming trip to Maui, we are planning a one-day trip to Oahu to visit Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. We rercently found information on a site that stated (due to new security measures) you are not permitted to bring any type of bag, even a ladie's purse! There is also no storage area for these items so it was recommended not to bring any type of carrying bag (fanny packs, backpacks and purses). Has anyone been there recently who could comment on this? It will be quite dificult for me to go since we won't have a rental car or a hotel room to keep my purse, and most of you other ladies out there know we HAVE to carry some sort of bag with our necessities! Thanks!

We were there in early March and they did not allow any bags, fanny packs, purses, etc. to the Memorial - and being the government, there are no storage lockers either. Sorry, but I don't know what to suggest - except half your group going on one tour and the other half on another - but that isn't really feasable.

Rose,
We went in Feb. but had a car. You may want to reconsider and rent a car for the day. I can't imagine flying in from another island and not having something
to carry my i.d., plane tickets etc. If you are unable to drive and are going with a group maybe you could rent a limo
for the day. At least you would have someplace to keep your things. Good luck.

I went in May and they DID have storage lockers. Not right on the property, but on the other side of the parking lot. When you arrive at the memorial, there is a park ranger who checks and makes sure you don't have any bags with you. For those that did, he directed them to the spot with the lockers.
