Very specific Sonoma/wine country questions
My husband and I are taking an anniversary trip to wine country in a couple weeks, staying for three nights in Sonoma, and I have a few very specific questions if anyone can help with them:
1. Any good casual Chinese restaurants in Sonoma? We don't have any great Chinese food around here so we always like to seek it out when we travel if possible, particularly Hunan or Schezwan.
2. At the other end of the spectrum, any places with some fantastic foie gras preparations, preferably for lunch, in either valley? We're going to French Laundry one night for dinner, and possibly The General's Daughter another, but I'm such a foie gras fiend I'd like to maximize my opportunities to eat it.
3. Is there somewhere around Sonoma we could buy a cheap little paring knife? I don't think we'll be checking any bags and we're probably going to do a picnic one day.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

I assume you're aware that it's a bit of a drive from Sonoma to the French Laundry.....be careful driving back at night.
I got a laugh out of your question about a "cheap" knife and French Laundry in the same post. I think dinner at FL is about $240 now.
There is a nice kitchen store on the main square in Sonoma.
You can probably pick up Foie Gras at Dean & Deluca in St Helena (Napa Valley), & have it for a picnic with some Sauternes.

If you can go into Santa Rosa for Chinese, this is probably the kind of place you're looking for. It's not that far, because it's actually on Sonoma Highway (Hwy 12) not far past where it enters Santa Rosa.
China Room
