Vegetable Peeler for sale in Manhattan

Strange request, I know, but I recently saw , both in print and on TV, the story of the gentleman (now deceased) who sold vegetable peelers on the street in Manhattan. I understand that his daughter has taken over the business. Could someone tell me where in Manhattan I could find this woman - I want to buy several of these items for gifts- and since I'll be in NYC for a few days, I'd love to be able to buy some. Thanks.

I heard that Ruth Ades Laurent ( dad was Joe Ades) had been selling at one of the same locations her father frequented: The Union Square GreenMarket, but was told by several shop owners not to return shortly after his death last February. I'd suggest googling her to find out if there's any updated information. Good luck!

You can buy them online. Search for "Harp Vegetable Peeler."

Well, here's the obituary and a couple other stories for the guy you're thinking of

(And I'm curious, are the peelers really "all that"? Or just a memento people want to have of an interesting story)

Just looked at this so-called special vegetalbe peeler... duh!

Not so special. It's the same peeler my mom has and grandmom had and I have two of these myself. Sure know mom and grandmom didn't and neither did I purchased from Joe Ades, rather from a regular store where kitchen utensils are sold.

OP - Rather than running around Manhattan, if this is what you want, but it online!

Thanks everyone. I'll save myself a trip running all over the city and go on line or see what Williams Sonoma has. I appreciate the advice.
