Vegas in December

Hubby & I are moving our trip to December (17th-22nd). What is the weather and activity like (i.e. teeming with tourists or "dead")? Thank you!

I've never been that time of year but every year without fail the Bellagio sends me low-priced room offers for December.

We were there a couple of years ago in that period. It's dead. The rooms are as cheap as they ever get during the year, and the weather is a bit chilly.

Highly recommended, though understand that some of the shows are dark.

Can be chilly in December. I have seen freezing temperatures late in the evenings

It's probably dead right in that period, but I can tell you (as a Chinese person myself) that Vegas has packages directed to Chinese people for Christmas. They bring in super popular superstars from Taiwan and Hong Kong to perform at Caesar's and the MGM. So from the 23rd to the 26th, it does pick up a lot.

We go up several times a year including the week before Christmas. It is not dead .. some shows are closed that is true, but there are still things to do, places to eat, etc. Trust me, there are millions of people there that week. It's hard to walk down the strip many times as there are so many people out and about (day and night).

Some hotels may be doing maintenance on their pools (the Mirage usually does) but it's not pool weather anyway. Room rates are pretty good, lots of specials you never see other times of the year

Lots of Asian tourists, but lots of every kind - and lots of people with kids. It's just like any other time of the year except some shows are dark. The Christmas decorations at Bellagio are always fantastic !!!

Weather wise it can be 30-40 at night and 60's daytime (usually). That can vary of course but it's usually neither too cold or too hot.

As others have said, this is the best time of the year to get a great rate almost anywhere. The Bellagio will probably have rates around 150, including an upgrade to fountain view. (I once got 125 at this time) Venetian, Wynn, all will have good rates, and you might get a steal if you're interested in the next rung like Mandalay. the big drawback is its usually too cold to swim and hang by the pool, but you should be able to get into any restaurant.
