Little info: we are staying at the Bellagio - we have tickets for Tony and Tinas Wedding - its our honeymoon but still somewhat of a budget

we want one nice dinner - up to $100 but nice and cheaper would be great - suggestions??

reviews of Tony and Tina?? I have seen it locally and it was awesome!!!

getting around - we are leaning towards bus - we know it can take a while to get around but other than the show no hurry - is it better to get a three / five day pass??

monorail?? yes or no???

i have heard to play craps rather than slots - slots is all i have ever played - i know there are free lessons and will probably take advantage but is craps hard????

Welcome to las Vegas sign - other than taxi whats the best/cheapest way to get there??? is it possible to even walk to it?? we thought limo and then drive around a bit.....

The Bellagio is great! It is pretty much center of the strip and I think most places are walkable. The water show in the evenings is fabulous and I love the display they have inside. Be sure to check out the patisserie with chocolate fountain near the big display room.

There are sooo many restaurants in Vegas. Two that I would consider are right in Bellagio.... one is Olives (I had a pleasant meal there) and the other I haven't tried, it is a Chinese restaurant that looks out over the lake in the front of Bellagio and you could get views of the water show. I think that would be fun to dine and see the water show.

Others have raved about a Thai restaurant; I think it is called Lotus Siam. I plan to try it next time.

p.s.- I would do the one day pass on the bus system and go to the farther sites that day. Most of the strip is within walking distance for me and I would just walk, cutting through the hotels to reduce the heat exposure. Oh, and see Jersey boys if it is still there and you can get tickets.... mahvelous!

It is damn hot in Vegas in August. Every time you leave the casinos you will be blasted by hot air,so walking during the day is a chore.

I agree. I would sprint from one big hotel to the next.... my point was that I would not recommend the 3-5 day Deuce/bus pass because you really don't want to be outside for long waiting for buses in August.

Craps is not hard to learn. It looks a lot more complicated than it is, but the basic betting strategy is easy to learn.

Most casinos will offer free lessons once or twice a day, and I would recommend doing that before trying it out. You don't want to walk up to a craps table without understanding the basics first.

No to the monorail. Get a pass for the Deuce bus. You will still end up walking a lot, so beware that it takes a lot longer to get everywhere than you think it will. Comfortable shoes are a must.

PS: A good "moderate" restaurant is Mon Ami Gabi, a French bistro that is in Paris, across the street from Bellagio. It has a patio with a nice view of the fountains, and it's pretty well priced for what you get.

where can i get a pass for the deuce if we decide to go that way?? from what i saw there are none close but i had heard that you can buy them in shops.....

we are used to walking so other than to downtown we probably wont get on bus

We liked both Olive and Mon Ami Gabi too. Very convenient if you're staying at the Bellagio. If you want a good burger while you're there, check out Hubert Keller's Burger Bar.

please remember that "used to walking" and walking around in the high temps in Vegas are very different animals.

Plus everything in Las Vegas seems to look a lot closer than the actual distance.

I don't know the prices anymore but we always enjoy the Cirque du Soleil shows.

The link above has a basic strategy trainer that will teach you how to play correctly so you at least have a chance at winning. Look for a $5.00 minimum table - O'Sheas generally has them, as does the Tropicana, and Excalibur. If you notice yourself losing many hands in a row while playing walk away from the table and try another. Craps is also fun but a little more confusing than blackjack. Every casino offers classes on how to play many of the table games so definitely take advantage of those. Plus they often teach you on the hotel TV channel in your room. I am not 100% sure on this but I believe you can purchase the bus passes on the bus from the driver. Have a great trip and honeymoon!! I've heard if you wear your wedding dress around town sometimes people will slip you some cash. Don't know if it's true but it is an idea

We bought the 3 days Deuce pass from the driver of the buss. Deuce has a stop at Bellagio. Bellagio is so beautiful hotel!
We went to downtown (Fremont street) by Deuce bus.

On a budget or not, in August you need to take taxis to get around. My husband and I just returned from Vegas and the heat was unbearable! We have been to Utah National Parks like Arches and Canyonlands in the summer and thought that we would be fine in Vegas. Big mistake! You would not want to be outside longer than 5 minutes!

Living in Missouri Las Vegas was NOTHING!! it was alot more comfortable. we talked from Bellagio past TI the first night - we walked to MGM second day - the only reason we did the one day pass was to get to Fremont Street - we did use it up and down the strip but it wasnt that bad

It's not the heat, it's the HUMIDITY.

Lotus of Siam is a good place for lunch...very casual. For more upscale there are a number of places for (approx) $100. We like MESA.
