VAIL.summer weekend visit

I will be attending a wedding in Vail during the 4th of July weekend. Not having been to Colorado since the 1970s, I am a bit lost here and would love some assistance in selecting a hotel for several nights. The Holiday Inn Vail has been suggested, but reviews are not very good. We are willling to spend about $300 per night if necessary for a good place with a heated swimming pool. The Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek has some decent rates; how far is this from Vail proper? WE plan to rent a car. Any and all help will be appreciated!

I have stayed at the Sonnenalp in Vail Village and it is fabulous. We were there over the 4th of July two years ago and loved it. The parade in Vail Village is very enjoyable.

I don't know their summer weekend rates, but look at the Tivoli Lodge. Like the Sonnenalp, it's inside the village core area. The Tivoli is family-owned and its pool has a wonderful view of the mountains. Both the Sonnenalp and Tivoli have on-site parking and are on the village bus route.

The Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek is about 20 minutes from Vail. You'd park in one of the public parking structures and walk to your village destination. I don't know the parking rates, but you might be able to find that information on Vail's website.

So many thanks to both of you. I will look at Tivoli and Sonnenalp more closely; both get excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.

Vail is under going LOTS of renovation. Be sure to ask if your prospective hotel is under construction - and ask about the building next door too!

The Park Hyatt is closer to 30 minutes or a bit more away from Vail. Second, in the past the public parking in Vail has been free, If there are several wedding activities in Vail, Beaver Creek would be inconvenient. Also pretty dead at that time of year.

Thanks! I will rule out the Park Hyatt. The wedding party has suggested Vail Cascade Resort as an alternative to the Holiday Inn; the two properties appear to be within walking distance. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated! Thanks again!

There are a lot of properties in that area. I am sure the wedding party is trying to hold down expenses for the quest by using the Holiday Inn. In general the 4th is pretty busy with a lot of sports teams and tournaments over that time so discounts will not be as frequent or good. The C would probably be fine. See what the reviews. As a local I obviously do not stay in Vail so cannot recommend any properties.
