They denied us and I was not very happy about it. I wondered if anyone else had another experience. They said that I would need to apply for my card which doesn't make sense because I already have a card of theirs with my name on it.

My husband has gold level status, and my kids and I can board with him even though our tickets have a lower zone. I'm not sure if the credit card holder gets those same perks.

BTW, when I related my incident above (having to gate check my bag when flying into Chicago) I was mistaken - that was with United, not USAir. So it's not that USAir is the only airline doing this.

Yes, they do get to board with the card holder. Just don't ask--say I'm with him. We have done it numerous times without even asking--and our tickets have been marked differently.

But if the two people have different last names, then I bet they wouldn't allow it. Seems odd, though, if they were booked at the same time/together.

We have never been subjected to that much scrutiny--the line is moving and we are together. Who knows?

Only the primary card holder gets a zone 2 boarding card - my wife gets zone 4 or 5. Have not tried to have her board with me, we usually only have one roller bag between us so I board with that. It's better for her as she can wait in the more comfortable boarding area until the plane is just about ready to go.

BUT if you say--he's with me or vice versa, there is no problem with the zone 5 boarding pass.
