Upcoming California Trip

Just letting you all know our itinerary, and I will post the trip report after August 26.

August 12-17 San Diego, staying with friends
(assorted items will include, but not be limited to, Zoo, baseball game, their favourite Mexican restaurant, Sea World, going to their church, and I think a BBQ with their kids)
August 17 en route to Morro Bay, I believe with a stop at Hearst Castle.
August 18-20 Concours d'Elegance http://www.pebblebeachconcours.net/, Pebble Beach
August 21 Sausalito and Muir Woods, staying at Inn Marin http://www.innmarin.com/index.html, in Novato
August 22-26 San Francisco, staying at Inn at Union Square, http://www.unionsquare.com/index.asp, and going to Alcatraz evening tour, and maybe visiting my sister's friend in Berkeley.

If you're checking in on Fodors while in San Diego, something you might want to think about while you're in the Monterey area, is the Concorso Italiano. Similar to the Pebble Beach concourse but all Italian. It's at a golf course in Seaside CA on Fri Aug 18th

We've been to the Concourse d'Elegance and the races at Laguna Seca a couple of times. Very, very crowded at Pebble Beach.

We've enjoyed the Concorso Italiano a lot more than Pebble Beach due to the crowds at PB.

Thank you very much for starting this thread. I would appreciate getting your impression of the Inn at Union Square - I am traveling to San Francisco in two weeks, and plan to stay with my group there. Let me know if we made the right decision. I hope you had a great trip to California!

Hi there,
We liked our SF Hotel, the Inn at Union Square a lot.

The front desk staff were great, especially Thomas and Omar, as well as Manny, who seems to do a bunch of different things (bringing our luggage, etc.)

I posted my comments in another post, if you click on my name you can read it there.

Basically, REALLY LIKED this hotel, would stay again, would recommend.

Hope this helps, enjoy your trip!
