If a hotel doesn't have The Sci-Fi Channel, I'll storm out.
If a hotel doesn't have Turner Classic Movies, I'll lambast them on every travel site I can find.
And if they don't carry Cartoon Network, I'll ask to see the general manager and poke him in the eye with a fork.

Brian, Frankie and I are just joshing each other a little (we'll have to go to ThornTree if it gets down and dirty;-) ).
Actually, it's the shopping channels that are must-haves, right, ladies?????
Seriously, for me, a hotel has to be CLEAN and NOT musty! Dirt & dampness is the reason I won't go back...........

I stayed at a hotel in South Carolina once and the TV kept going off every half hour while we were watching. When I complained to the management, they said it was on a timer in case people left it on all night!

Let's don't make this a political thread.......... not the right forum!!! There's democrats, republicans, independents, yadda yadda, on this forum, and I like them all! I was teasing Frankie......... I could care less what news anybody watches! I was just revealing my brother's unusual criteria, not meaning to start a political discussion!!! Shouldn't have bitten, even in jest!
Now, back to unusual hotel criteria...........

I don't think this is necessarily odd...
but my wife needs to have safety issues covered. Sprinklers, working detectors, exit maps, etc. Stains, dirt, etc will cause us not to return. Really do not care for outside entrance doors to the room.
I agree that the TV channel selections discussed above is more "odd."

Now if I could find a hotel with Tivo...
It is a little scary to me that there really are many people who miss Faux, err, Fox News that much. LOL
Seriously, it seems like no one can beat your brother's tv issue. I wouldn't consider a clean room, bed preference, etc. an "unusual" criteria. I wouldn't go to a hotel where I couldn't get a no-smoking room, but I wouldn't consider that unusual and isn't really a problem anymore. Preferences for King bed, tennis courts, room service.
I guess I thought there would be bigger "freaks" out there. . .

My criteria? Location, relatively clean, quiet, and safe. Not running out of hot water.
Television choices? I don't much care. I see a number or places now advertising '25" Televisions' -- for the typical small room, they could be 13" for all I care.
What I wish they would furnish is CD-AM-FM clockradios of halfway decent quality. Most of the clock radios I've encountered don't tune in a station, they just make noise that will wake me up, and forget about actually being able to listen to it. Oh yes - in-room coffee is nice, but I'm not going to leave if there's not a java-machine.

Now you stop that, Vacationdreamer, lest we all be at it with fur flying!;-)
I've heard that Howie Mandel, the comedian, goes wild in hotel rooms. EVERYTHING bothers him........ he uses sanitizer on the TV remote because that's the filthiest thing (I blushingly admit I do that also!) He immediately strips all the spreads and blankets off the bed (I do that, too, at hotels where pets are allowed), and wears slippers all the time so that his feet do not touch the floor. He re-cleans his bathroom immediately and totally, even at the ritziest hotels!!! (And he refuses to shake hands with people.......... EVER!)
