Unused Delta AL tickets--short trip from Dallas. Ideas please.
We have two tickets that need to be used before they expire (aug. 15)and since we are semi-retired want to go for maybe two nights.Hopefully, not too long a flight for a short trip. We like sightseeing, (some) hiking, golfing and are on a budget, hotel maybe around $150 a night. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks.

..have you been to ABQ ? Short flight..hiking (Sandia Mountain--ride the tram up--hike down). Sightseeing..yea--old town/ drive up the Turquoise trail to Sante Fe..spend a night there, too. THat is a good weekender from Dallas. I know there are other destinations, but I"m thinking short flight. You might try Phoenix if you really like golf. You may even consider Las Vegas--visit Hoover Dam while you are there. If you haven't been to Vegas in the past 5 years, you will be pleasanty surprised at the newer hotels. Better than Epcot!
Hope this helps.

Denver might be nice if you want to get out of the summer heat. I'd just book for next month - after the fires are out.
New Orleans will be hot and muggy, but would be a fun getaway. And during the summer months, you should be able to get a good deal on hotel rooms.

Ivy,
If you haven't tossed out your Sunday paper, make sure to browse through the travel section. The Dallas Morning News has a good travel section, which may give you some ideas, particularly with hotel selections. I think you can easily find a nice package for 2 or 3 nites at accommadations that are offering summer specials to attract visitors.
I think Delta flies into either or both North & South Carolina. What about checking into Hilton Head, SC? I know there's good golfing in that region.
