Unique Holiday Fun in Los Angeles!
Here's a tip for anyone in the Los Angeles area during the month of December:
GRIFFITH PARK HOLIDAY LIGHT FESTIVAL http://www.dwplightfestival.com/2008/html/guide.htm My DD and SIL and their pals took me along on their annual Xmas trek to this corny but fun (and FREE)event. You can walk it, bike it, or even horseback ride the route, but we went by car, drinking hot cocoa, and singing along with the amplified Xmas tunes. You begin in the "Tunnel of Lights" and drive past moving light displays of such unique LA features as LAX, the LA downtown skyline, Griffith Observatory, the California Aquaduct, and more! Check out the website for more info and have a blast! (through Dec. 30)

Or try ice skating downtown amidst the skyscrapers in Pershing Square. It's not Central Park, but it is sunny and 72 degrees AND it's in the middle of the jewelry district!
