Ulalena, anyone?

Hi!
Has anyone been to the show "Ulalena" in Maui? Heard it's similar to a Cirque du Soleil show. Just wonder if you like it and whether you can find any discounts? Thanks!

Went in October, Y2K. It was very good indeed, I particularly liked the drumming section visible to the right of the stage; obviously have no idea regarding current pricing/deals etc.

We went to Ulalena in March,2003 and really loved it. You definitely can see its "cirque" influence. Make sure you watch the drummers, they are up above you on the right. Definitely worth going to see.

It is worth going to. Best seating is in the right middle about two-thirds of the way back (so you can see both the stage and the percussion section). Avoid the front 7-10 rows, which are usually the seats available at a discount through ticket wholesalers.

It is based on Hawaiian history and culture with some Cirque influence.

We saw the show last March and it was some of the best entertaiment in Maui. It's a wannabe Cirque but still delightful and good for children. There are steep discounts from one of the ticket/tour places but I can't recall the name of the company. They advertise 50% off the first five rows (which they have reserved). We bought tickets for the next day's performance and sat in the third row center and it was great. The deal was genuine. In addition to Ulalena, be sure to see the Comedy and Magic show in Maui. The magician/comedian was terrific and his show was the highlight of all of our entertainment so far this year. I laughed until I cried. The show includes dinner (quite delicious) or just appetizers and dessert. The appetizers make a meal by themselves so we got the appetizer and dessert package. The first part of the evening is the dinner/drinks and piano entertainment and that part is a little hokey but the magic/comedy part (in an adjoining theater) is terrific and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Sorry, but I forgot to say the name of the magic and comedy show is Warren and Annabelle's. If you do a search using just Annabelle, you'll pull up many reviews of show.

Thanks everyone for your input! The show is on our to-do list now. Just hope we have time to attend the show since we got so much we want to do in so short a time. Thanks again, everyone!

Actually, Ulalena's parent company is ARRA Montreal, which is the parent Company of Cirque. Therefore, not a "wanna-be".

It is a great show and runs Tuesday Through Saturday at 6pm.

If you are looking for discount tickets for the show, I can help you. I am a concierge at the Embassy Vacation Resort, and our resort has an exclusive contract with the theatre for the standard seating. 2 people for $48.00 plus tax.

Please let me know if you need assistance: [email protected] or 1-866-283-9174.

Hi Shannon - quick question - do we need to be staying at the Embassy in order to purchase the tickets through you?

Hi, Sharon:
Do we have to attend condo presentation to get your special rate? Or anything else as a condition? Thanks!

Just a word to the wise - you'll get what you pay for. I've found the best seats to be those you buy directly from the Ula'lena website. As another poster mentioned avoid the first few rows. Sit a little farther back, maybe in the middle.

I see this is a pretty old topic (from '03) but yes I saw the show when we were in Lahaina about 5 years ago... LOVED it!
