Trout Lake/Other Yellowstone ?s
Will be staying my 1st nite in Cooke City, coming fr. Billings & Beartooth area. Could someone tell me how many miles into the East entrance is Trout Lake, in case I have time to hike that area? Also, are there mesquitos in mid-to-late Sept? If warm enough for a float trip, which Company do you recommend? Thanks in advance in any help.

How are you planning to get from Billings to Cooke City? The Beartooth Highway had mudslides in May that tore out parts of the road. You won't be able to go through Red Lodge and will miss most of the Beartooth Highway.
If you have time, when you come to the Chief Joseph (296) and Beartooth intersection go east as far as they will let you go and then back.
It will be well worth your time.

Trout Lake is about halfway between the NE entrance and Tower Junction which are 29 miles apart.
