Trip to Washington State and Oregon
My husband and I plan to visit the Seattle and Portland area next month. We will fly into Seattle(cheaper airfare from S.C.) and tour the Boeing Plant. We would like to travel into Oregon also. What should we make a special point of seeing? Would it be possible to go to Vancouver and there in a week? Thank you very much for any advice and suggestions.

What are you interested in seeing? The Boeing Plant is an interesting pick. Why are you going there?
Are you interested in scenery: mountains, waterfalls, islands, or are cities your primary interest? Cultural things, gardens? Is Portland a must? (Because starting in Seattle and heading down to Portland and then back up to Vancouver, returning to Seattle, is a lot in a week, though the cities are only a few hours apart.)
Is this your first time to the northwest?

It's a fine idea to go to Vancouver, which is only a couple of hours north of Everett (Boeing plant). It might be pushing it a bit to visit places in WA, then Vancouver, then head south (4-5hours) to OR. If I were you, I would decide to go to OR or BC, but not both.
A nice trip would be to spend a day or two in Seattle, visiting local sites (Pike Place Market, Seattle Center, Harbor Tour, waterfront, etc.), then head north to Everett before continuing on to Vancouver. You could spend 2-3 days there (Capilano Bridge, Grouse Mtn, Stanley Park, etc.), and then perhaps a ferry ride over to Victoria.

I agree you should do OR or BC, but not both. If you go north, ALF gave good suggestions. If you go south, visit Mt. Rainier and/or Mt. St. Helens, the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Hood, and the Oregon Coast from Newport to Astoria.

We try to travel to different areas each year for the pleasure of seeing this beautiful country. We have never been to Oregon or Wash. State. The Boeing plant is of interest because we are a family of pilots.
We enjoy mountains, boating, water, seafood, and scenery. . However, big cities are not of much interest on this trip. I think the best plan would be to head south and do Vancouver later. Will we have trouble getting accommodations on the coast highway? How far to go down the coast before heading back? Thanks everyone for their replys.

Since there are pilots in the family I would recommend the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field. It is really interesting and also has one of the Concorde jets and an Air Force One that you can walk thru.
Maybe if the weather is nice you might want to go on a float plane scenic flight from Lake Union.
There is a new exhibit at the SAM on Van Gogh that will only be in one other city in the US besides Seattle.
Mariners games at the outdoor Safeco field are very fun and relaxing!

If you're down Portland way, you might want to carry on to the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. It's a great museum.
