Trip to Glacier National park

My husband and I are planning a trip to Glacier National Park, in June. We would like hike suggestions for moderate hikes (but a MUST for us is "Going to the Sun Road). To start our plan, however, I would appreciate lodging accommodation suggestions. Should we stay in Kallispwll or Columbia or Whitefish? Our dates are June 25-28

My favorite is the Meadow Lake Resort in Columbia Falls MT. We enjoyed the condo unit with an in room hot tub. Resort staff picked us up at the Whitefish train station. Enterprise picked us up the next day. They were based at the Kalispell airport but let us drop the car at the Whitefish Amtrak station.
There are trails that go out from the parking area at the top of Logan Pass (Going to the Sun road). I'm hoping that the road will be cleared of snow by the last week of June. Sometimes it is not.
Coming in from the west side, you might be able to stay at the Lake McDonald lodge. Within walking distance of the lodge, you will find the spot where Ansell Adams took a well known photo.

Kalispell is 45 minutes from the west entrance. Whitefish is a resort town that's closer but still half an hour away. I would look inside the park https://www.glaciernationalparklodges.com/ and https://www.glacierparkcollection.com/lodging/ though availability will be pretty limited at this point or in West Glacier.

As tomfuller said the GTTS Rd may not be fully open. It wasn't open to Logan Pass until mid-July last year though I believe some of the delay was due to covid staffing issues. If you can get to Logan Pass there may still be some snow/ice on the trails. Hidden Lake Overlook is a nice short hike here. Closer to the west entrance is the hike to Avalanche Lake. Most of the other hikes we enjoyed were on the east side of the park which you can get to via Hwy 2 outside of the park if the GTTS Rd is still closed. It will be a long day. You could also consider looking for accommodation on the east side in Many Glacier, St Mary or Babb and splitting your stay which we found worked really well for us.

I like this site for suggested hikes and you can filter by location and distance https://hike734.com/hiking/ It may be difficult to find parking at the popular trail heads.

Glacier is now instituting an online reservation system for Going to the Sun from May 28 to Sept. 6th.
